12th May 2008

As promised, here are details of the Children's Book Festival's open events –

Saturday 28 th June – Family Fun Day

There will be stand-up comedy for kids with Ian Billings (writer of Chucklevision) at Dinnington Library at 15:00 . Ian is currently touring his enormously successful Talking Pants tour.

Poet Craig Bradley (who was a huge hit with children, staff and teachers when he visited Rotherham last year) returns for two events - one at Mowbray Gardens Community Library in the morning, with the second being a Storywalk from the Big Screen to Clifton Park in the afternoon.

There will be fun with Kimmo the ventriloquist at Maltby Library (10:30 am) and Herbert's Circus Extravaganza ( 10:30 am ) will be at Wath.

The mobile library and library staff will be in the town square from 10 – 3 to promote the service and will be joined by Rotherham 's own Third Nail Theatre for excerpts from their production of the BFG.

Monday 30 th June

We are proud to welcome Ben Haggarty – one of the UK's finest storytellers and a man who has performed in over 20 countries – to Rotherham as he performs at Central Library from 19:00 – 20:30.

Sunday 6 th July

Ian Billings returns for a second performance of his stand-up comedy for kids, this time at Maltby Library at 14:00 .

Individual libraries will also be putting on many of their own activities throughout the week.
